The cultural sector faces challenges no single organisation can solve alone

Tight budgets. Changing audiences. New technology. The pressure to do more with less. And often, the fear of getting it wrong.

CultureLab NL brings together venue leaders, digital teams and arts marketers to share what's working, what hasn't, and what's worth trying next.

This is a day to exchange ideas, compare notes, and leave with something worth testing. Because when the sector experiments collectively, we all move forward.

What to expect

CultureLab is built around a simple idea: the sector learns faster when it's honest about what it's trying.

That means hearing from venues about experiments that didn't land, not just the ones that did. It means conversations that go beyond the polished version of events. And it means leaving with something concrete – an idea worth testing, a risk worth taking, or a conversation worth continuing.

You may find that the person sitting next to you has probably faced the same challenge you're wrestling with right now. They might even have already tried your solution.

Programme

Every session is designed to give you something you can take back to your organisation, whether that's an experiment worth trying, a risk worth taking, or a mistake worth avoiding.

We're putting together a day across three spaces – a main stage programme, small-group breakout sessions, and plenty of time for the conversations that happen in between.
MAIN STAGE

‍A full programme of talks, panels and practical sessions. The details are coming soon, but expect honest accounts of what venues have actually tried, not highlight reels.

BREAKOUT SESSIONS (limited availability)

‍Small-group conversations with the CultureSuite team and select partners, designed around your questions. Whether you want to dig into the CultureSuite platform, talk through a specific challenge or discuss strategy with your peers, these sessions offer more opportunities to learn from other venues.

OPEN CONVERSATIONS

‍Drop into the foyer throughout the day for informal discussions and introductions. No agenda – just people working through the same challenges, finding better answers together.

The venue

CultureLab NL takes place in the Zonzij hall at Tolhuistuin – a versatile, intimate space in Amsterdam.

Tolhuistuin is just across the IJ from Amsterdam Central Station. The free Buiksloterweg ferry runs around the clock and takes under five minutes. If you're cycling, there's bike parking on site.
